May Update of the Season so far

Posted by ColinSteer On May - 31 - 2010

Well, as the riding season started a little bit late, due to the rather crisp Winter that we experienced this year, then so too should the reports of our activities to date.

Spring Run March 27th. from Outgate.

Given that the weather was still rather cool a turn-out of about 25 riders was pretty good for the season opener. A good ride was had by all, several riders challenged the course by passing over it without realising that they were back “en-route”.

Ireby Ride-In

Another very well organised event (thank you Brian, Sue and the team) with good weather and fantastic support. We counted over 70 eligible machines (over 25 years old) and a good number of modern supporters, some of whom could perhaps be future members. A respectable sum of money, nearly £700 was raised in support of the refurbishment of the village hall. Great news!!!

The Border Run

This is one of my favourites, despite falling off on hailstones 4 years ago and breaking my left leg. Geoff provided us with another very good route but the somewhat cool weather that has typified this Spring caused a few folks to stay at home in front of the fire and only 25 attended. The clash of dates with the “Stafford Show”, near to Easter etc. also didn’t help. This was a great shame because this event needs a free weekend rather than be constricted by external events.
