The Border Run

Posted by ColinSteer On April - 30 - 2013 Comments Off

Geoff’s final Border Run was, unfortunately, ambushed by the weather Gods and even though many were put off by the forecast, 16 hardy souls joined Geoff on the run. Willie Edmonds put on an excellent spread for lunch and the seven remaining members headed off for an entertaining visit to Mike Barry’s Museum before heading back to Geoff’s where tea and excellent scones were the order of the day.

Our Thanks go to Marjorie and Geoffrey for their unflagging commitment to this event over the last 15 – 20 years.

Doug Cross Workshop Ride-In

It was unfortunate to experience so much snow that the Spring Run was postponed until Summer, so it was with mixed feelings that we looked forward to the ride-in to Doug Cross’s workshop. We needn’t have worried because the weather turned out clear and bright, sunny yet still a little on the cool side. We had a good ride down to Lowick Bridge, enjoyed some good chat, tea and scones and the chance to ratch around Doug’s emporium.

Our thanks go to Doug and his good lady for providing such excellent hospitality.

View from the entrance with a brace of Nortons in the foreground, a Trumpet and an Ariel nearby and an avid snapper.

And a view back to towards the entrance with a Beeza, a Commando and is that a Matchless hiding behind Bob? Meanwhile the snapper is now focussed on the Model 7 Norton that’s parked next to my new helmet and my scruffy old rucksack, lying on’t floor.

Here’s the local “Panther”, aka mice catcher that was running about

Finally, a good lunch was had at the local “Red Lion”

Cheers to all 30+ participants
